Amish Barn 3

Amish Barn 3

The moment I saw this barn I knew that I had to photograph it… the little shed on top of the silo was such a whimsical sight! When I met Virgil, the owner, he explained that the original top of the silo had rotted out, so he built that shed on top. He is a talented woodworker/cabinetmaker, explaining to me that he was happy that he had decided to be an amish, but if he had not, he probably would be doing something creative, like what I do. He gets astronomy magazines, which I found truly interesting. The night I showed up to photograph the barn turned out to be his 45th wedding anniversary celebration. He sent me to the barnyard with one of his eldest grandson, a troupe of young amish boys and teens followed. They all stood around my computer that I shoot to, and called out whenever a new image downloaded. At one point I walked back to check my exposures and there were ten or twelve young amish staring at the screen, lit only by the computer… if only I could have taken that photo!

Why Metal Prints?

In my more than twenty-five years of being a commercial photographer I have seen images printed on almost every single substrate imaginable. And in that time I have never seen prints that look as stunning as these aluminum prints. They come alive in a way that I did not think possible. As one gallery owner I showed these to exclaimed, “It is like looking out a window!” They are truly unique in the way they shine when well lighted. So when you buy one of these prints, please make sure to light them generously!
